Hill+Knowlton Names Antonio Tamayo President and CEO of Latin America Region



Hill+KnowltonHill+Knowlton Strategies has announced Antonio Tamayo as president and CEO of its Latin America region. Tamayo has served as President of H+K Mexico for 17 years, leading several important client accounts including Pfizer, Nestlé,  International Diabetes Federation and Proctor and Gamble.

With the new position, he assumes the role previously held by Dr. Luis de la Calle, who will now serve as Senior Advisor for H+K Latin America. Tamayo will report to H+K Global Chairman Jack Martin.

Martin shares his optimism for Tamayo’s new appointment:

“Taking a broad look at the business, policy, media and social landscape in Latin America, it’s clear that there are now – and will continue to be – tremendous opportunities for our business across the region. In light of these opportunities, I am appointing Antonio as President and CEO and Luis as Senior Advisor to our firm. These roles optimize their experience and credentials, and position H+K Strategies as a leader in a region with growing prominence in world markets. They will also enhance the development of our client service excellence in-region and expand collaboration across our global network, allowing us to better advise clients based in Latin America and those doing business in the region.”

Tamayo shares his enthusiasm for the new position:

“I can’t think of a better time to assume this responsibility, as each of our offices in the region is very well positioned to support our clients during these challenging but promising times. I look forward to working closely with our country leaders to enhance Hill+Knowlton Strategies’ opportunities for sustainable growth in Latin America.”

Originally from Mexico City, Tamayo holds a B.A. in business administration from the National University of Mexico where he also completed graduate course work in international relations. Tamayo served as an executive for Bermudez & Associates, a California-based advertising, marketing and public relations company in addition to several professional leadership positions across Latin America. Tamayo is former president of PRORP (the Mexican public relations agencies association) and featured speaker for many collegiate and professional events.

Today is just another day for most people in the world. But 68 years ago events spiraled ever chaotically and frenzied, into a future our forefather’s could not imagine. As an American, and as a citizen of the world, Russia’s celebration of victory in World War Two today should, I am sure, be all of ours – the people of the world.
