In marque mixed martial arts (MMA) action later today, Strikeforce Columbus takes place in Columbus Ohio, and even Arnold Schwarzenegger is hyped about it. Today’s Strikeforce bouts are part of the Arnold Sports Festival, and the big guy was caught on video with his view on MMA. But the buzz is all about the main event for today, Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante takes on MMA legend Dan Henderson.
The Arnold Sports Festival was founded by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and has become the largest multi-sport event in the United State. Some 175,000 fitness enthusiasts gather each year to talk about new products and industry news, as well as to take part in a wide array of initiatives and events. Interestingly, Arnold revealed in the video below, his own interests in MMA. As for the events later on, of course the Feijao/Henderson match-up is all the talk.
The battle for the Strikeforce Light-Heavyweight Championship tonight features two of the most devastating mixed martial arts fighters in the world. Feijao, (the champion) who weighed in at 204.5 pounds, is a Brazilian (10-2, 3-1 SF) fighter who trains with the Black House team feating UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva, among the many others. Known for his aggressiveness and punching power, Rafael is an interesting matchup with Henderson, the master of in close fighting.
Henderson (26-8, 1-1 SF), a legend by anyone’s standards, is a two-time Olympian who has held Pride titles in two weight classes and has won tournaments in the UFC. If there is something out there in the pugilism world Henderson has not vied for and been competitive in, it’s probably not worth watching.
So, for action junkied everywhere, today is the latest Strikeforce fix of MMA action. Arnold will be watching, and so will we. As for those in Columbus at the Greater Columbus Convention Center attending Arnold’s Festival, we are obviously jealous – and at the main event at Nationwide Arena? Yeah, we are envious of you too. But enjoy the bout on Showtime, and look here for the early results. Now we leave you with Arnold, who by the way added this writer on Twitter. :)
