Edelman Appoints Stephanie Smirnov – Consumer Marketing Chief, NY

smirnov everything-prEdelman has announced the appointment of Stephanie Smirnov Managing Director of Consumer Marketing at the PR firm’s New York office. Staring July 29 Smirnov will report to the President of Edelman New York, Russell Dubner.

Formerly US CEO of DeVries Global, Smirnov will succeeded Adrienne Hayes, who is left Edelman to work with Google‟s Motorola Mobility in May. Dubner has this to say about Smirnov’s appointment:

“Stephanie will channel the division‟s momentum towards bringing to scale an emerging model for consumer marketing that is deeply social, steeped in market intelligence and yet firmly grounded by a PR-mindset. Ultimately, Stephanie‟s charge is to help evolve our skills and capabilities so we are a most valued player at the integrated agency table.”

A veteran of key strategic and creative disciplines, Smirnov also brings years of emerging media and other forward edge expertise to an every expanding Edelman digital and creative presence. Edelman has recently bolstered their team worldwide, but most notably in New York where the following new hires seem significant:

  • Catherine Franklin – returns to Edelman from GolinHarris
  • Drew Vogelman, who served as head of integrated production operations for BBDO, joined Edelman Digital in June as executive vice president and director of creative production.
  • Bryan Chadwick, a former creative director for Y&R, DDB and JWT, as well as a White House speech writer, artist and composer.

Edelman‟s New York offices are home to some 750 plus professionals in fields from consumer marketing and health communications, to corporate and public affairs, and many other market sectors and disciplines.
