GAP Casting Call Entry Period Ends

24 October marked the ending of the entry period for the GAP casting call that will determine the future faces of babyGap and GapKids. Despite GAP’s recent PR blunder, the company managed to generate a huge response to the competition, gathering a “million-plus adorable photos.” The contest continues with fan favorite voting. 20 finalists will be announced November 14. December 6 to December 20 America will be choosing its favorites, and Gap will decide on its official winners in February 2011. There will be no less than four winners, the future faces for: Girls, Boys, Baby Girl, and Baby Boy.

These are the kind of activities GAP should be focusing on. The company cannot benefit from a logo-redesign, but for a focus on attracting market response. The casting call for the future faces of babyGap and GapKids brought the right kind of attention towards the brand. There was obviously enough interest in the campaign, as one of the days hot Google trends referred to the event. The contest encourages public participation till the end.
