HTC will become the official mobile phone and tablet computer partner for both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League, the Union of European Football Associations announced. This partnership will run until the end of the 2014/15 season, and also includes an association with the UEFA Super Cup, the UEFA Women’s Champions League finals and the UEFA Futsal Cup finals.
“I am pleased to welcome HTC to the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League family,” said UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino. “Through this partnership, UEFA and HTC will promote European club football to a global audience and bring new opportunities for our fans to engage with the competitions.
“We value the support and commitment of HTC and anticipate that their involvement with these competitions will increase the profile of their brand on a global scale,” he added.
“Football elicits so much passion around the world, so we are very excited to be able to enhance fans’ ability to enjoy two of the game’s biggest club competitions,” stated Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. “We’ll be working closely with UEFA to offer surprising football experiences to all football fans, and to provide a richer overall mobile experience.”
Heineken, UniCredit, MasterCard, Ford, PlayStation and Gazprom. HTC and adidas are official supplier partners are the official partners of the UEFA Champions League. For the UEFA Europa League, Western Union is the presenting partner, HTC and Hankook are official partners, and adidas is the official supplier partner.
This deal is a huge step forward for HTC as it pushes not only the company’s smartphones, but also its tablets to a wide area of events with international coverage and impact. It is a great marketing move and it’s now up to the Taiwanese smart devices maker to provide high quality devices in the years to come.
