Actress Danica McKellar to Promote Casio PRIZM Calculator

Casio has announced that it is partnering with respected mathematician and TV star Danica McKellar to promote the Casio PRIZM calculator. McKellar, who is well known for playing Winnie Cooper on the 90s TV show “The Wonder Years”, will pose for a photoshoot and promote the calculator through social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

To be clear, this is no ordinary calculator that Ms. McKellar has chosen to promote. The Casio PRIZM is a next-generation graphing calculator that delivers its mathematical calculations in brilliant high resolution color. Students can use the calculator to input equations and create graphs, but it goes even a step further. With the color display, they can add real-life pictures and create graphs over them to experiment and apply math to real life in a way never before possible with a calculator.

Casio’s textbook display gives the equations and graphs a very natural feel, allowing students to work with them more easily. It also provides color coding for equations to help students learn from their mistakes.

McKellar, who studied mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and graduated with honors, has received praise for her work in mathematics and recently co-authored a physics theorem called “The Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem”. She is also the author of the New York Times best-selling book Math Doesn’t Suck: How to Survive Middle-School Math without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail.

“Mathematics is a true passion of mine and I am thrilled to be working with Casio in support of their PRIZM calculator,” said McKellar. “The PRIZM has an amazing color display, and its graphing features are incredibly powerful. Power, smarts, beauty – the whole package; who says ‘smart’ has to be dull?”

PR Firms for Casio include Coyne PR as well as CMJ Media.
