Microsoft and Ragan Communications are teaming up to present a PR and social media summit at the Microsoft Headquarters in Redmond, Washington. The summit is designed to offer practical training, as well as allowing attendees a peek behind the scenes of Microsoft, one of the most successful technology businesses in the world.
The conference actually begins with several pre-conference workshops that cover employee communication and social media. During the actual summit, November 16th-18th, 2009, there will be three “tracks” to select from, PR & Marketing, Internal Communications and Social Media and Technology. It will be possible to switch between the tracks, taking classes from any of the three.
Speakers at the event include Adam Brown, Director of Digital Communications and Social Media at The Coca-Cola Company, Simon Sproule, Vice President of Corporate Communications for Microsoft and Jeramie McPeek, Vice President of Interactive Services for the Phoenix Suns, among many others. There will be speakers from a number of quality companies, such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Great Place to Work Institute, eBay, T-Mobile, Starbucks Coffee, Marriott, Boeing, and JetBlue Airways.
While seminars will vary between tracks, there will be brainstorming sessions at each lunch, called “30 Ideas in 30 Minutes”. In addition, there will be a number of classes taught by busienss professionals. These include the following:

- Evolution vs. Revolution: Engaging employees in times of change
- Using social media engagement to build and protect your brand
- Creating a viral video sensation for $50: The inside story on Will it Blend?
- Social media inside the firewall: This is not your teenager’s YouTube
- Give your external audiences a seat at the management table
