Leading Health and Wellness brand breaks ground for major economic initiative marking the first official International Yoga Day.

Monticello, NY (June 19, 2015) – In honor of the first official International Yoga Day, entrepreneur Dr. Subhash Chandra is proud to announce the groundbreaking of the Veria Nature Cure and Ayurvedic Wellness Center which is being built on the site of the iconic Kutsher’s Country Club in Monticello, NY. The golden shovel ceremony will coincide with the first official International Yoga Day this Sunday June 21st, and take place on the banks of Bailey Lake in the presence of the Sullivan county community.

In September of 2014, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made one of his first addresses to the United Nations General Assembly calling for the recognition of the Indian-origin practice of yoga – a resolution that saw a record 177 countries as co-sponsors of the movement. With the support he scored a win when the international body declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga. In Modi’s words, “Yoga embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being.” International Yoga Day coincides with the Summer Solstice – a celebration 6,000 years in the making.

Bringing this unity and holistic approach to health is the new wellness center in Monticello, NY, which is being spearheaded by Indian billionaire mogul Dr. Subhash Chandra, chairman of the Essel Group of Companies. Chandra has invested $18 million thus far as part of a $90 million dollar plan for the first phase to turn the once-legendary Kutsher’s Country Club in Sullivan County, NY into the 260,000 square foot Veria Nature Cure and Ayurvedic Wellness Center. This is just part of his total commitment to invest $250 million on the wellness center and overall wellness programming.

“We are so very proud to spread the energy and spirit of Yoga,” says Dr. Subhash Chandra. “We have learned the harmony and wonders of this spiritual discipline, and with June 21st being recognized internationally for one of India’s gifts is the perfect day to break ground on our new Center. It will bring peace, harmony, jobs and a boost to the Monticello economy.”

The modern, unique and exclusive center will include treatments such as hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, physical therapy, in addition to a yoga center, fitness center, private and couple treatment rooms and a swimming pool with nature garden. A full service restaurant with a teaching and observation kitchen, nutrition center and several juice bars dispersed throughout the facility will complete the food and beverage services, and there will also be a space for a museum, gift shops, essential shops, salon and theater. The Wellness Center will be situated on an undisturbed, maturely vegetated, and sloping site in the Town of Thompson along the westerly bank of Baileys Lake. These physical site features will provide all guests a beautiful, natural, quiet and serene setting for exercise, meditation, and reflection.

The Golden Shovel Ceremony will occur on the auspicious occasion of the first International Yoga day at 11 AM on June 21, 2015 on the banks of the Bailey Lake off Anawana Lake Road, 10 Bailey Lake Rd, Monticello, NY 12701.
