NRG Energy, Inc, a Fortune 250 company that seeks to change the way people think about and use energy is seeking a Public Relations firm of record according to an RFP Everything-PR has obtained. The company “believes in the vision of a reliable, more sustainable energy future where people have the freedom to make cleaner and more sustainable energy decisions, and we’re committed to making that vision a reality today.”
They will choose an agency before Thanksgiving and seek to engage a firm by January 1, 2016. With an estimated 7-figure annual campaign, parts of the assignment include working with each of the firm’s business units, including NRG Corporate, NRG Business, NRG Retail and NRG Renew.
Parts of the assignment for the chosen firm include managing:
NRG Corporate Communications, including strategy, strategic counsel and guidance on earned and owned media, digital connections and industry changes. The firm will also draft and refine Corporate Communications, thought leadership and Sustainability planning. Media relations shall include building and driving media relationships with top key reputation and business reporters, securing national broadcast, print and online coverage to communicate NRG’s vision and storylines.
Naturally, drafting press releases, monitoring media and managing all aspects of social media is also a vital part of the assignment. The agency will also participate in internal communications support, manage the NRG corporate blog, including syndication and editorial calendars, and more. The agency will also develop thought leadership objectives and plans for West, East and Texas Regions, including providing crisis communications strategies as needed.
