I like Rich Goldstein’s quote quite a bit. I also think that genuinely paying attention to people will do more than just make one a good lawyer. It will help you form good relationships in life and any career you wish to be in. If you listen to people and learn from them then you will always be improving and people will trust you. This is a truly admirable quality for anyone, but especially for an attorney.

Thanks for sharing all of these qualities that a good lawyer needs to have. My son is going to graduate from law school soon, and he wants to make sure that he gives the best impression possible. I will definitely be sure to share this with him, and see if it can help him. He is really good about caring about other people’s problems and focusing on their unique case, but I have no idea how he manages work.

What makes a good lawyer? It is a question I have been asking after dealing with some legal drama surrounding our family’s lawyer. All the great quotes you provided really help answer the question. Someone who prepares and makes themselves accessible to you has the qualities need to bee a great lawyer.

My brother is looking for his first lawyer to help him so he wants to be able to find the best one. I like how you point out that a good lawyer is one that realizes that people need to know that they care about their problem. That seems like a good indicator of one that will really want to help.
