Here’s a few round-up stories we missed last week:

Avis Budget Group

Avis Budget Group to Consolidate PR Firms for Efficiency Play

Avis Budget Group is reportedly concentrating PR firms for a brief believed to be worth $750K plus. The car-rental company operates Avis, Zipcar, and Budget brands, is presently fishing for one of a few PR networks, all capable of placing the company in the international marketplace.

Sources say Avis Budget is expected to change its strategy to specialize for each geographic location. Atomic is currently Avis’ number one PR firm in Europe, with another sister firm, Grayling managing other, alternative European markets. In the UK, Avis Budget is ending its relationship with Red Consultancy.

William Grant & Sons

Spirits Group William Grant & Sons Seeks New PR Agency

A spirits group handling major brands like Hendrick’s and Balvenie, William Grant & Sons, is seeking new PR representation. This follows the group’s dropping Steely Fox after a seven year relationship. The open assignment is presumably for Hendrick’s and Balvenie, since the two brands are the greatest source for growth for the group. However, their recent acquisition of Drambuie is raising eyebrows, too.

Services sought include PR, content and experience. One source commented that the spirits group wants a “joined-up” approach in the months and years to come. This open call came after Philip Gladman, the former Diageo executive, was tapped as William Grant’s CMO.

Steely Fox’s director Rory Steel experienced a “huge disappointment” in losing William Grant & Son’s business because his firm gave the spirits group numerous award-winning campaigns.

“We are immensely proud of our achievements with the company, especially on Hendrick’s Gin, where our strategic consul and creative activity have been a major part of that brand’s massive success in developing a consumer appetite for super premium gin and setting a new benchmark for spirits marketing both in the UK and beyond,” commented Fox.

“As a specialist in the drinks sector our insight into consumer behaviour industry nuances will continue to set us apart from other generalist consumer agencies, and this means we will always remain small, dynamic and highly creative,” he continued.

Vladimir Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s PR Has No Equal

Ronn Torossian, 5WPR Founder found himself featured in Russian media outlets, including RT, Sputnik Radio & other Russian government founded entities, following his op-ed in The New York Observer, where he claimed that Putin’s ability to leverage PR influence on the international stage is proving superior to that of America.
