UNDP South Africa’s public relations (PR) and communications efforts work towards showcasing the CO’s good work and building the CO’s reputation through sharing the right information to right stakeholders at the right time.
To best achieve this objective, the CO seeks to engage an industry-standard, world-class, web-based PR platform that simultaneously 1) links the CO Communications Team to a wealth of Africa-focused journalists (across South Africa, the SADC region, and the world at-large) and; 2) provides a robust media-monitoring mechanism that allows the CO to oversee its coverage domestically and globally.
The platform’s capacities would support the CO’s efforts to raise public awareness of its good work and measure the results of the PR and communications efforts.
Background:
For years, the CO has held a large number of events, including launching several pioneering, high-impact knowledge products, yet outreach and engagement with the domestic and global media – as well as monitoring the media’s response to CO events – would benefit most from engaging pre-existing, industry standard PR platforms to support these efforts.
Therefore, UNDP South Africa’s communications efforts seek a comprehensive, up-to-date media directory across South African, SADC, and Global media houses – as well as an effective media monitoring system to cover important thematic areas, stakeholders, and geographies.
Scope of Work:
Towards dramatically enhancing the CO’s PR efforts and results, the web-based public relations platform allows the CO to
1) access to a proprietary network, or database, of journalists and media influencers and tools to manage these relationships;
2) monitor South African and international media to understand the CO’s media exposure through a robust collection of (not limited to) global online news, blogs, social, print and broadcast channels;
3) analyze and report media coverage and build the stories around data through visualized analytics;
4) understand audiences and target your media audiences with PR outreach efforts.
