Scope: The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District (SMART) is a government transit agency that owns, maintains, and operates passenger rail service in Sonoma County and Marin County in the State of California. In addition to providing passenger rail service, SMART is a common carrier for freight rail service in the North Bay Area.
SMART is seeking Proposals from qualified firms to sell advertising and manage its advertising program. SMART is looking for an innovative, driven, and creative advertising agency with a proven track record of successfully working with transit agencies and growing advertising sales revenue utilizing both local and national advertisers.
SMART has 14 train stations, 16 platforms, and a total of 24 passenger shelters that contain advertising space. Additionally, SMART has 18 trains which have advertising space available.
SMART’s three (3) primary objectives for the firm selected will be:
1) Increasing ad revenue generation for SMART
2) Filling agency’s inventory of all ad placement spaces
3) Ensuring advertising reflects SMART’s brand whenever possible
SMART’s successful advertising sales partner will understand the strong potential of marketing one of the newest and fastest growing brands in California’s transit and freight rail industries, develop advertising bundles and pricing programs, and analyze potential venues for advertising sales that maximize revenue opportunities tied to the passenger rail service, freight rail service, and beyond.
All advertising placed in and on SMART’s property shall comply with SMART’s “Guidelines Governing Advertising in and Upon SMART Facilities and Vehicles” included in the Sample Agreement for Consultant Services (Attachment A).
This contract has a 3-year base term with (2) one-year options to extend thereafter.
This Agreement may be funded using State or Local Funds. Consultant shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations while performing work under the Agreement.
