Group Gordon Expands Public Affairs Practice

New York-based strategic communications firm Group Gordon has added four prominent mission-driven clients to its portfolio: The Trust (powered by NFLPA), an organization that provides services and resources to former NFL players transitioning off the field; Columbia Children’s Health, the pediatric medical staff of Columbia University Medical Center; Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, a world-class legal education institution; and HERE to HERE, a joint effort by the James and Judith K. Dimon Foundation, DreamYard, and Big Picture Learning focused on enhancing career pathways for young people. One of the hallmarks of the firm, according to Group Gordon Principal and CEO Michael Gordon, is its commitment to advancing the causes of mission-driven clients.

Group Gordon Culture

The announced expansion of Group Gordon’s public affairs practice comes just months after the firm was recognized at the 2018 SABRE Awards as one of the top five corporate/B2B agencies in North America for the second year in a row, as well as a Best Agency to Work For in North America for the eighth straight year. Group Gordon says that its focus on hiring and retaining top talent is responsible for creating an award-winning culture and work product. At Group Gordon, employees experience an ego- and competition-free meritocracy in which collegiality and collaboration are rewarded and professional development is encouraged both at the individual and team levels. The employee-centric, non-bureaucratic culture frees employees to focus their energy on achieving meaningful relationships with and results for their clients.

A Unique Approach

In an industry in which PR firms tend to focus on either strategy or execution, Group Gordon excels in both. The firm attributes its success in client acquisition and retention to this dual emphasis.

Though unusual for a boutique firm, Group Gordon has a footprint in a wide array of industries. In addition to its growing public affairs portfolio, the firm works with clients in financial services, law, real estate, tech, professional services, and consumer goods, among others. The firm believes that diverse practice areas yields more interesting and varied work for the team and a more creative, thoughtful approach for clients. While its client base is diverse, the unifying thread in Group Gordon’s work is its commitment to doing good through its work with philanthropies, leading nonprofits, and responsible businesses.
