Havas Formula, formerly known as Formula PR, was acquired in 2014 by Havas FORMULATIN. Formula has offices in San Diego, Los Angeles, and New York.

History and Background of Havas Formula PR

Formula is an integrated communications agency, working in non-traditional advertising and experiential campaigns. The firm was founded in 1992 by Michael Olguin and their headquarters are in the San Diego office.

When they were acquired by Havas FORMULATIN, CEO Mr. Benett said, “What I like about them is you can’t put them in one neat box. They’ve been smart about expanding their business.”
Michael Olguin has been a senior strategist with more than 25 years’ experience in B2B and B2C campaigns. He’s worked with clients in lifestyle, sports, entertainment, high-tech, consumer technology, and travel arenas.

Mr. Olguin works in the firm with client strategy, growing the agency, bringing in new business, and leadership team management. Trade and business publications often seek his expertise. He’s been featured as a PR expert in such publications as PRWeek and Inc. He’s also been an events speaker at industry events such as Hispanicize and PRSA International Conference. With his help, the trio of agencies often receives awards and mentions for work with clients and their success as agencies.

Havas Formula Employment

As with most PR firms, the employees stay very busy, but the agency also has several ways to help employees grow including an annual company-wide retreat in San Diego for two days filled with professional development, team building, and education. They review the previous year’s events and accomplishments, hear guest speakers, have an internal awards program of the “Formies” honoring outstanding efforts by the employees, guest speakers, breakout sessions with senior leadership, and lots of fun. They sponsor an Amazing Race type competition to encourage relationship building between employees from each of their three offices.

Along with the annual event they hold monthly “university” classes on topics such as public speaking, building media relations, and learning management skills.

Then turning to the fun side of their culture they sponsor daily BBQ lunches during the summer, Friday evening happy hour to pair with Friday casual days, and a fully stocked snack section in the kitchen so when the crew works long hours they never go hungry.
