International Criminal Court Seeks PR Firm

International Criminal Court Seeks PR Firm

Wow this seems like an interesting assignment. There’s many strong litigation/issues management PR firms, including 5WPR and Sitrick PR.

Background:

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is the first permanent international court established to investigate, prosecute and try individuals accused of committing the most serious crimes of concern to the international community as a whole, namely genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. More information is available on the Court’s website (general information can be found in various fact sheets). The seat of the Court is The Hague in The Netherlands, and has investigations in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Central African Republic (CAR) (in two separate situations), Cote d’Ivoire, Kenya, Libya, Darfur (Sudan), Mali and Georgia.

The ICC has 9 of its 10 investigations in African countries and needs to inform the populations of those and neighbouring countries about the investigations and cases before the Court. It is therefore necessary to find an organisation with a vast network of professional media across Africa to help the Court reach the population on a large scale, in English, French and local languages.

Scope of Work:

There are four required services for a one-year period:

  1. Journalists roundtable: We are considering 6 a year as optimal dynamics. Organized with journalists based in different parts of the world, vendor will invite relevant respected journalists to discuss points related to the ICC, this will be filmed and available to the client. This is an opportunity to build discussion and provide accurate information to the media.
  2. Production of video series – 4 episodes, each of 6 minutes – and distribution on international channel widely viewed in Africa. This is going to be set in a News Bulletin style with voice overs, each topic of episode will be relevant to the current climate surrounding the activities of the ICC in Africa. The video will portray situations and testimonials of individuals’ opinions with regards to a specific topic at hand.
  3. Publication of interviews on ICC by African personalities on African Television. On a basis of once every two months, that would be sufficient at this stage. Vendor will identify high level personalities who believe in ICC’s role and will organize TV interviews to be aired across the continent by different select channels.
  4. 1 op-ed by the ICC President at the occasion of the opening of the judicial year January 2018 and the launch of the 20th anniversary campaign. Op-ed stands for Opinion editorial article. This can be between 1200 words or more and will be printed in a media of choice, during the January launch. IT could be the FT, or other similar type of media.
