RFB for the provision of promotional and client relation services to foster and deliver film and television production and post-production investment opportunities for Ontario/Toronto in Los Angeles, California, for the Ontario Media Development Corporation.
Background:
Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), an agency of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport is the central catalyst for the province’s cultural media cluster including book publishing, film and television, interactive digital media, magazine publishing and music industries.
OMDC promotes, enhances and leverages investment, jobs, and original content creation by:
(a) contributing to the continued expansion of a business environment in Ontario that is advantageous to the growth of the cultural media industry and to the growth of new employment, investment and production opportunities in Ontario;
(b) facilitating and supporting innovation, invention and excellence in Ontario ’s cultural media industry by stimulating creative production, format innovation and new models of collaboration among sectors of the cultural media industry;
(c) fostering and facilitating co-operation among entities within the cultural media industry and between the public and private sectors to stimulate synergies in product development and the creation of products with original Canadian content;
(d) assisting in the promotion and marketing of Ontario’s cultural media industry as a world-class leader;
(e) administering provincial tax credit programs and such other programs and initiatives as may be required by legislation or a Minister of the Government of Ontario; and
(f) acting as a catalyst for information, research and technological development in the cultural media industry provincially, nationally and internationally.

Scope of Work:
The Toronto/Ontario marketing presence in Los Angeles will make a significant contribution to Ontario’s screen-based activity levels. The goal for this position will be to contribute to the attraction of screen-based work to Ontario, with specific targets to be determined with the Vendor. The mandate of the Vendor will be to reinforce and expand the number of relationships with producers, production executives and others and promote Toronto and Ontario on a full-time basis as an outstanding production destination to Los Angeles (LA) decision-makers and to support as feasible Ontario screen-based content creators. The Vendor will promote the diversity of locations, skilled workforce, comprehensive infrastructure and the value for money of production, animation, post-production and visual effects work in Toronto and Ontario.
The Vendor’s marketing activities will be carried out to promote the benefits of working in the Province in order to facilitate an increase in the number of LA Screen-based Industry activities carried out in the City of Toronto and the Province of Ontario.
The contract will extend over two years, from October 19, 2018 – October 18, 2020.
