The primary internet objectives of the University of the West Indies Press are to continue to build brand identity, generate interest in its publications, provide access to its content, align with its parent institution and drive demand for the services it provides. The University of the West Indies Press is seeking a firm to develop a effective website that should meet the following technical requirements:

Background:
Celebrating twenty-five years of scholarly publishing, The University of the West Indies Press is a not-for-profit scholarly publisher of books in fourteen academic disciplines. It is particularly well known for its work in Caribbean history, Caribbean cultural studies, Caribbean literature, gender studies, education and political science. The UWI Press has over 400 books in print and as well as journals. Our books are peer-reviewed and approved by an editorial committee composed of local and international scholars.
Scope of Work:
The UWI Press requires a public website that is user-friendly and will serve all potential and current clients, partners and the genera l public. The intent of this project is to create a website with a contemporary and compelling interface to engage users to effectively find scholarly content, access book reviews, complete and download forms, watch and/or listen to our audio visuals, subscribe to educational content and purchase content they need.
Content and Technical Requirements
The UWI Press will provide the content to be included on the website. The new site will include text, downloadable documents (DOC, XLS, PDF, etc.), fillable forms, photos, and video. The website should be searchable, with easy navigation. The website requirements to be met include:
- The site must functional and responsive across user platforms, including mobile devices and major browsers (Chrome, IE, Safari, etc.)
- Multi-language support
- The site must have a user experience-led interface that groups and presents information in a logical manner utilizing industry best practices
- The site should include a fully-paid version of the content management system software on which it was developed
- The site design and content management system must allow technical and non-technical staff to make content changes
- Accessibility features for persons with disabilities (i.e. Scalable text, etc.)
- SEO savvy keywords, tags and elements, XML Sitemaps
- Social Media Integration –
o Social sharing tools that allow visitors to share to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, etc. should be incorporated across the website.
o Integration of social media feeds within the homepage and other key pages
o Integrates with multimedia marketing campaigns, advertising, social media advertising, online and onsite activations and public engagement programs
o Add a “subscribe” button; subscribers will see new content as it is published
- The site must include analytics integration (i.e. Google Analytics)
o Employs analytics integration including visitor trends, page views, web traffic analysis, path analysis, entry and exit pages, length of stay, browsers, platforms, as well as gathering email, areas of interest and demographics information in a format that permits the Press to maintain a single database of users and email, each according to area of interest
- Website must be safe and secure; HTTPS inclusion, PCI compliance, SSL certificates, etc.
Additional Requirements
- Develop any and all templates needed for staff to easily update web content. Collaborate with our internal team and stakeholders to provide the UWI Press with access to a test website during the development of the new website
- Events calendar, including the option for site users to upload events and options for sorting the calendar by date, location, type of event, etc.
Design
The design should support a desired framework to provide an immersive, flexible user experience that can be integrated with existing and future upgraded software. A detailed layout for all pages and featured templates will also be required.
