Global public relations agency Porter Novelli has recently named Karen van Bergen as a senior partner and managing director of the firm’s New York office.
“I am especially pleased to be able to attract someone of Karen’s caliber,” said Gary Stockman, the agency’s CEO. “Together with the other leaders on our Executive Committee, this is a powerful team to drive our global growth strategy.”
Van Bergen will be replacing in this position the assistant managing director in New York, Joe Russo, who filled in on interim basis. Russo will continue his employment with Porter Novelli New York as assistant managing director.
Prior to her employment by Porter Novelli Van Bergen was the global leader for OneVoice, an integrated Omnicom offering that serves Philips Electronics. She is a senior partner and senior vice president at Fleishman-Hillard, which is one of two agencies that comprise OneVoice. To fulfill her duties with Porter Novelli, Van Bergen will have to relocate from Amsterdam to New York, together with her family.
Van Bergen is Porter Novelli’s second senior appointment in the past two months. The agency employed Michael Goldberg as chief marketing officer last October.
