On July 10, 2015, the Governor’s Office of the State of Texas requested bids for a two-year contract. They are looking for a firm to create a PR campaign for Texas Tourism targeted to those people and travel-related businesses in continental Europe.
The scope is a strategic and comprehensive tourism and travel public relations and marketing campaign fully incorporating media, consumer, travel trade, and meeting market activities primarily in the European continent. Applicants must also be able to “ad hoc” marketing and promotional efforts as directed by the client in secondary markets of the continental Europe region.
Texas is big and bold, so being able to demonstrate a history of successful tourism campaigns on the part of applicants is ideal. Also, a knowledge of Texas, it’s landmarks, and what it has to offer that will be of greatest interest to the European market should prove invaluable to efforts in this campaign. The work will be overseen by The Economic Development and Tourism Division (EDT) of the Governor’s Office for Texas. This division supports and pursues both tourism and job creation and exporting opportunities for the state.
The division works with visitors’ bureaus, private travel organizations, chambers of commerce and convention-related efforts to promote prosperity for Texas through international and domestic travel. EDT’s efforts are targeted to those areas that have proven to show great returns for their marketing investments.
Texas’ current tourism marketing slogan, “Texas. It’s like a whole other country,” should be considered as applicants make their bids for the contract. The term of the campaign will begin on September 1, 2015 (or once a contract has been accepted) and ends August 31, 2017.
