PRSourceCode, a service provider connecting the technology public relations (PR), journalism, conference, and industry accolade communities, has just announced the results of its fifth annual Top Tech Communicators awards. Established through votes from the IT journalism community, the awards recognise the best PR agencies, corporate PR departments, and individual PR professionals. The big winners of this year’s edition will take part in an October 26th Webinar featuring best practices in tech media relations.
The Top Tech Communicators prizes are awarded after a survey of more than 800 journalists and bloggers from IT and business publications, including CFO, eWEEK, PC World, Healthcare Purchasing News, SC Magazine, Smallbiztechnology.com, TechWeb, University Business, Virtual Strategy Magazine, Wired, and Ziff Davis Enterprise. The survey was conducted in the third quarter of 2010 and required tech editors, journalists, and bloggers to name the tech PR agencies, corporate PR departments, and individual professionals they enjoy working with most, based on their responsiveness, knowledge of the industry, outreach methods, and other such criteria.
“This media is constantly shifting – from evolving and new forms of media to the way people receive news,” says Cole Smith, national account director for PRSourceCode. “This year’s Top Tech Communicators have really embraced the change, staying on top of the media’s trends, working to adapt with the journalists, and learning how to best match their clients and organizations’ expectations and needs with journalists’ changing realities and methods. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners.”
The prizes cover several different segments – Large Agencies (>100 employees), Mid-sized Agencies (31-99 employees), Small Agencies (<31 employees), and corporate PR departments. After voting for the best agencies and top in-house PR departments, participating journalists also named their top individual PR professionals. All category results are available at along with a full report on tech PR pitching tactics, tech journalist pitching preferences, and advice and best practices from the IT editorial community.
