Rogers & Cowan Fails At High-Level Communications

Rogers & Cowan everything-pr

It is amateur hour at Rogers & Cowan, the entertainment PR conglomerate that named a new CEO, Mark Owens today.  Why is it amateur hour?

Because when someone gets a new job as the head of a company which is described as “a leading public relations and marketing communications agency”, they should cover at the very least the basics of communications.

Yet, Mark Owens’ Linkedin still describes him as the Chief Revenue Officer at Corbis (where he’s been for only a year.).  Shouldn’t that have been updated? The Corbis Entertainment twitter account says “today @CorbisEnt’s Mark Owens joins me on #BloombergA&E @BloombergRadio to discuss the biz of #productplacement.”

Of course, that link was nearly a year ago – lets hope Owens’ doesn’t fancy himself a social media communications expert. Owens is a former Managing Director at Ketchum Public Relations.

It has been a day of changing PR firm CEOs – Earlier in the day, John Saunders was named as the new President & CEO of Fleishman Hillard. That firm did get the basics right.
