Axia Public Relations CEO Jason Mudd is ambitious and expects continued growth for public relations (and public relations firms), and shared his predicted PR trends in a recent blog.
Mudd predicts data will be increasingly more important suggesting social media experts and PR pros alike need to be studying the numbers and results from big data. Also, they need to create relationships with the companies that offer big data services if they don’t have the capability in-house. Big data’s capacity to increase profits, abilities, and targeting your market will continue to expand at a rapid rate. If you aren’t incorporating it already, do it now or be left in the dust.
Social media engagement also will continue to give more power to consumers. He recommends more inclusion among PR, advertising, sales, and marketing teams as part of his predicted trends. “You absolutely need the direction of an expert to select, craft, and carry out the quality messages that matter most,” Mudd writes.
“Keep them focused on the platforms that give you the best results.” Along with that, start planning your editorial calendar well in advance, months or the whole year if possible. Create your plan around advancing your most important messages using PR guidance for the best results.
Tear down the office silos and start bringing your people to the same table often for brainstorming sessions and for input from experts in each field to improve other divisions of your company. The days of office fiefdoms should be ending as you encourage as much interaction between experts in all the fields where you work.
