The fans look forward to Super Bowl commercials almost as much as the game itself. This year brings some of the hottest names in show biz on screen: Justin Bieber, Ozzy Osbourne, Kim Kardashian… Yes, Kim Kardashian, recently the subject of another “nudity and fame” editorial, strips again, this time not for “W” magazine, but for Sketchers’ Super Bowl ad.
More than 30 advertisers tomorrow will air about 60 TV commercials. The estimated cost for the “fun” is about $3 million per 30 seconds of ad time. And there are high hopes for these ads: they’ll be seen by more than 100 million viewers on TV, and thanks to social media millions from all over the world, online.
With a name like Kim Kardashian, Skechers has a lot to win. Kim Kardashian will star in a sexy ad for Skechers’ Shape Up sneakers, an ad that, according to the reality TV star, was “easy to shoot” because, in the end, this is what the fans want. In other words, to see her showing a bit of skin every now and again. In the ad, Kim gets her arms around a shirtless man’s neck – and speculation about the man’s identity is already making for a lot of media fuel.
This time, although a bit revealing, the ad is tasteful, and Kim’s makeup flawless. What you see is not a plastic, fake, Barbie look-alike with dark hair, but a beautiful girl, aware of her charm. As it should be – maybe an eye opener for Kim, whose style is usually all about bling.
“Kim had a lot of fun with the racy and somewhat tongue-in-cheek theme of the commercial,” a source on the L.A. set of the ad told PEOPLE. “It was a long day on set, but the finished product … was definitely worth the effort.”
Kim – of course – is represented by celebrity publicity powerhouse PMK*BNC.
