42 West Tasked with Elephant Hunt PR
It’s a tough topic, the subject of elephant hunting. However, in Botswana, local officials are making a concentrated effort to reinstate the allowance of hunting in order to control unruly or aggressive and threatening elephants.
This presents a tricky public relations challenge, as the majority of the public find themselves opposed to the idea. For this reason, agency 42 West has been tapped to help “spin” the concept of hunting to a more favorable result.
The position of the Botswana government is that many of the wild elephants are unruly and responsible for attacks on farmers and the destruction of crops and landscape. Today, Botswana is home to over 100,000 elephants. The government contends that any elephants hunted would be used for meat.
