March 2024 — Agency News Round-Up

MMGY Global announced the appointment of two senior professionals to executive roles. Julie Freeman joined as Executive Vice President of Public Relations; Julie Cuesta took the position of Executive Vice President of International Marketing for the Americas region. Both joined MMGY Global's executive leadership team across the travel, hospitality, and lifestyle sectors.

Xhibition International expanded its portfolio by adding Lemala Camps & Lodges, a provider of luxury safari accommodations in Tanzania and Uganda. The agency took on PR for Lemala's eight existing camps and lodges, plus the launch of Lemala Osonjoi Lodge on the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania.

MikeWorldWide appointed Luke Lewis as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of its New York corporate communications practice. Lewis transitioned from FleishmanHillard to lead a team of consultants and the agency's expansion in strategic communications, reputation management, and technology.

PR Companies News Round-Up

Edelman reported a 9.1% drop in US revenues for 2023, totaling $1.038 billion globally. CEO Richard Edelman attributed the result to industry-wide conditions despite a strong 2022. Top clients remained stable, with 6% growth among the top 100. EMEA grew 7.1%, Asia-Pacific 1.7%, and Latin America nearly 30%.

Jennifer Bett Communications (JBC) was named agency of record for Tecovas, the Austin-based western wear brand. JBC handles media relations and affiliate marketing services, covering business, consumer, and product narratives. Tecovas was established in 2015 as a digital-native Western fashion brand.

Hunter appointed Carl Sorvino as Executive Creative Director, overseeing the integrated creative services department across campaign ideation, branding, digital content, and design. Sorvino was previously Chief Creative Officer at MikeWorldWide and reports to Gigi García Russo, Chief Innovation and Growth Officer.

Ruder Finn expanded its Middle East presence through the acquisition of UAE-based Atteline. The 30-person team, led by founder Sophie Simpson, joined Ruder Finn's global structure as its UAE regional hub. CEO Kathy Bloomgarden noted the timing relative to UAE and GCC growth. The Dubai expansion followed previous acquisitions including Pandan in Malaysia.
