PR Happenings at MDC, MWWPR, Weber Shandwick, North 6th Agency, and WE

MDC is in Expansion Mode

MDC Partners

Lotta Malm Hallqvist has been added as MDC’s European Managing Director, CMO, and she will focus on growing their business and building collaboration efforts in Europe for the global agency. Her supervisor is Bob Kantor, MDC’s Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer. MalmHallqvist came to MDC from Cheil Worldwide, where she recently was Global Chief Growth Officer and President.

Malm Hallqvist’s new role allows MDC to accelerate growth opportunities in Europe and to support existing firms already in the network such as 72andSunny, Anomaly, Hunter PR, Kwittken, Varick Media Management, Allison+Partners, KBS Albion, Northstar, and The Media Kitchen. But MDC has been growing rapidly lately through acquisition of existing agencies like Forsman & Bodenfors in Sweden – they now work with other creative firms in MDC like CP+B and F&B.

Karen Clyne Joins MWWPR’s San Francisco Office

MWWPR San Francisco has gained a new General Manager and U.S. Tech Practice leader in Karen Clyne. She will be in charge of building their tech practice, managing enterprise and consumer tech clients, and developing business with prospective tech clients. Beyond that, she’ll oversee the various tech-related efforts throughout the MWWPR network in all the sectors they cover.

Clyne brings several new tech clients to the firm including Roomster, Launchpad Digital Health, Sol Republic, and Payworks. She has 16 years of PR and communications experience in integrated technology. Most recently, she worked as Sr. VP at Eastwick Communications.

Weber Shandwick and Facebook at Work have Become Friends

Facebook at Work is a new product on the social media platform that is still in limited beta testing mode, but that didn’t stop Weber Shandwick from giving it a whirl almost as soon as it could. WS has offices around the world in 34 countries and 78 cities with approximately 4,000 employees. They use the new tool to share tips among themselves and with clients, collaborate, and stay in contact in real time.

WS has been using the tool since last year, but when Facebook upgraded to include live video to the mix last month, WS was among the first to use it in business communications. It is not their only means of communicating, but their usage of it is growing and could easily become their go-to communication tool soon.

Green Flower Media Signs North 6th Agency as PR AOR

Green Flower Media provides educational courses and content related to cannabis and has hired North 6th Agency (N6A) to get the word out about their services and content to targeted national, business, consumer, and trade media venues. N6A, a full-service brand communications agency, is located in the SoHo area of New York and was founded in 2010.

Catherine Allen Leaves Shift for WE

After 13 years working at Shift Communications in Boston, Catherine Allen shifted to WE Communications to become their new Sr. VP and general manager in their Boston office. At Shift, she was in charge of their Boston and New York account teams building their healthcare practice. Before her time at Shift, she started her PR career at Sterling Hager. Allen replaces Chris Stamm, who left in April 2015. WE wants to gain more leverage in the healthcare sector along the East Coast and New England region.
