Seven Top SEO Blogs For the PR World

Search Engine Optimization

SEO Public Relations

Keeping up-to-date with the latest SEO news can be overwhelming for many webmasters.  There are simply too many things you have to keep in mind if you want to be on top of your game.

If you follow Google closely (and why wouldn’t you), you’ve probably seen the changes that are taking place right in front of your eyes. Trying to keep tuned in to these changes is hard if you don’t tune in to the right information.

There is simply too much noise about search engine optimization on the Internet. Savvy SEO service providers stick to the leaders and SEO consultants in the industry. Here is a list of the best SEO blogs to keep you posted and informed:

1. SEOmoz

SEOmoz is on top of their search engine game. The blog is updated daily with one or several posts. They have a range of SEO leaders posting to the blog. This keeps the content fresh, informative and at the top of their game.

You will find a lively community of professionals ready to share their comments, wisdom and knowledge. This blog is a must-read if you want to be keyed in to the ever-changing landscape of SEO rules.

2. Matt Cutts

While Matt Cutts does ramble about anything and everything on his blog he is still considered as the publisher of one of the top blogs for SEO advice. As the head of Google’s Webspam team he’s know a thing or two about optimizing a site for the search engines, don’t you think?

Matt is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the topic of search engine optimization. He’s been around the block for a while. I also like his no-fuss writing. It’s clear. It’s simple. And it makes sense.

3. Search Engine Journal

Updated several times a day, the Search Engine Journal strikes a good balance between SEO strategy articles, industry news and tactics for better search engine rankings. You will find a host of useful resources to help you fine-tune your strategies

The blog is also a wealth of information if you venture into the comment section.

4. SEOBook

SEOBook helps you to learn, rank and dominate the search engines according to their tagline. They are of course at the top of their game. The blog isn’t updated as frequently as the others mentioned before, but you can still gain invaluable insights into SEO, particularly social SEO.

The blog is more in tune with the ever-changing trends of the industry, rather than with kick ass SEO tricks and tips given to you by other blogs. Having said this, SEOBook is still good enough to make it for this top 7 list.

5. Traffick

Traffick has been a major contender in the SEO blog stakes for over 10 years. The blog features a healthy mix of advice on all things traffic and search engine optimization. It’s quite an entertaining read and you should head over there to take a look for yourself.

One of the critiques I would have about this blog is that the SEO-heavy content is a little outdated and old. If you dig into their archives you’ll find that the SEO categories are pretty outdated, with the latest posts dating back to 2004 and beyond. Still, Traffick does have great information to help you understand how search engines and traffic (pun intended) work.

6. Search Engine Land

Search Engine Land is another of my favourite blogs for all things search engines. Their blog is updated frequently and always at the front of the latest news and guides about SEO. This is a blog you must read if you have anything to do with SEO at all. An RSS subscription is a must.

7. SEO Chat

Not a blog per se, SEO Chat is still a honorary list member to make it onto this blog list because of the “chatter like” way the site is published. Aggregated with newsworthy information, tips and tricks to better your SEO score, SEO Chat is definitely a runner for the top industry blogs.

You have at your disposal a massive amount of information on this site. In fact, you probably end up surfing for hours to satisfy your inquisitive mind if you don’t watch out. To me, this site is a little like listening to search engine related chatter from good friends.
