This position will support IBM's global services business, with an emphasis on expanding IBM leadership role in cloud computing, analytics, and support the company's Smarter Planet initiative. External relations professionals need to be able to influence media and IT analysts, and to drive positive brand awareness with IMB clients, business parties, alumni, key influencers and governments. Collaboration with other IBM organizations is an integrated aspect of the job description. Responsibilities will include developing strategic media plans, media pitching, social media outreach and campaign development, news/feature story creation, customer reference development, influencer campaigns, writing op-eds, press releases and other materials. Must demonstrate strong media relations skills, strategic thinking, relationships with press and be able to showcase a integral understanding of technology and business press. Required skills include at least 7 years experience in Media or Public Relations; and experience with technology or communications businesses, as well as social media skills. External relations professionals with IBM will be travelling at least 1 day a week, so readiness to travel is also a must.
