The Google Drive MCP server lets AI assistants access, search, and act on files in a Google Drive workspace through the Model Context Protocol.
What it does
For organizations on Google Workspace, Drive is the file system. The MCP server makes the contents of that file system queryable and modifiable by AI assistants. Claude can find the most recent version of the pitch deck. ChatGPT can summarize the contents of a folder. Gemini already has this built in natively.
The implementation is utilitarian. Reads are reliable. Writes work for simple cases. Editing complex Docs and Slides through MCP is still maturing — the format fidelity gap matters when production documents need to be modified, not just read.
