South County Economic Development Council Issues Marketing RFP
The South County Economic Development Council (SCEDC), in partnership with the County of San Diego and the cities of Chula Vista and San Diego, seeks qualified consultants to develop a direct marketing campaign focused on Fortune 1000 companies in the high priority clusters in an effort to attract them to the southern portion of the San Diego region. This campaign is expected to include materials and messaging for the following forms of marketing:
· Drafting of direct contact (mail, email) language
· Creation of digital and print media (advertising) aimed at the target clusters
· Recommendations for participation in industry trade shows, associations, etc., ranked by priority
· Development of appropriate outreach methods and materials to site selection consultants
· Development of collateral material
· Creation of messaging points
· Partnering on creation of website, including developing content and wireframes
· Branding for the “tri-marketing” area including:
o Name of area and tagline(s)
o Key concepts that distinguish South County from the rest of the region
o Logo
This marketing campaign is intended to attract high-priority clusters into South San Diego County. High priority clusters are identified as:
· Aerospace Vehicles and Defense
· Biopharmaceuticals
· Communications Equipment Manufacturing
· I.T. and Analytical Instruments
· Medical Device Manufacturing
· Innovative Technology
· Bi-national cluster opportunities in support of the proximity to and partnership with the Cali Baja region: Advance manufacturing, Agribusiness, Biomedical and Tourism
Background:
SCEDC is a non-profit committed to economic prosperity throughout the southern portion of the San Diego region, known as South County, encompassing the cities of Chula Vista, National City, Imperial Beach, Coronado, the southern portion of the City of San Diego including the communities of Otay Mesa and San Ysidro and the southern portion of the unincorporated area in San Diego County, known as East Otay Mesa and Bonita. Business attraction is a critical component to the success of these communities.
SCEDC, together with the County of San Diego and the cities of Chula Vista and San Diego, have identified a contiguous area consisting of the southeastern portion of Chula Vista, an unincorporated area known as East Otay Mesa, and the community of Otay Mesa within the City of San Diego for future development (“identified area”). These collective areas offer large land masses for future development and are primarily zoned for commercial, light and heavy industrial businesses. The identified area is located on an international border and the Pacific Rim, has an available workforce, a bi-national innovation economy and a future university that will be located on 383 acres in eastern Chula Vista. The area is within close proximity to the Port of San Diego and the San Diego International Airport.
