Industry Presence Index
What it measures: Not just one metric, but the sum of: how often you're cited, in how many different contexts, across how many engine platforms, with what sentiment/framing.
The components: Citation frequency + citation breadth (how many different queries pull you) + citation consistency (same position across multiple queries) + source quality (are you cited from first-party or secondary sources) + recency (is the citation fresh).
Why it matters: A single high-Citation-Share metric can mask weakness in breadth or consistency. An Industry Presence Index shows you: are you the obvious answer, or just one of several?
Strategic use: Track your own IPI monthly. Benchmark against competitors. Identify gaps: if you rank high on "product features" but low on "industry trends," you know where to build authority.
