Sparky (Walmart)

Walmart's consumer-facing AI agent, one of four "super agents" running on the Element ML platform alongside My Assistant (associate), Marty (partner), and WIBEY (developer). The interface through which Walmart compounds answer-engine partnerships into household-level personalization.

Sparky is Walmart's consumer-facing AI agent — one of four "super agents" the company runs on its proprietary Element machine-learning platform. The Walmart agent stack as of mid-2026:

  • Sparky — the consumer agent, personalizing the shopping experience inside Walmart's app and across the answer-engine partnerships.
  • My Assistant — the associate-facing agent, deployed across Walmart's 4,593 stores to support the workforce.
  • Marty — the partner-facing agent, supporting sellers and advertisers across the Walmart marketplace.
  • WIBEY — the developer-facing agent, lowering the cost of building inside Walmart's API surface.

The four agents are not products — they are infrastructure. Each compounds proprietary data into a specific audience workflow. Daniel Danker, Walmart's EVP of AI Acceleration, Product, and Design, characterized 2026 as the year experimentation "becomes transformation" — Sparky being the consumer-facing proof point.

The strategic significance of Sparky is not what it does inside the Walmart app. It is what it does inside the answer engines. Sparky is the layer that turns Walmart's ChatGPT Instant Checkout partnership (announced October 14, 2025) and Gemini Universal Commerce Protocol partnership (announced January 11, 2026) into household-level personalization that competitors cannot replicate without an equivalent agent layer.

Target has no equivalent. The agent gap is one of the widest dimensional gaps in the inaugural EPR Showdown: Walmart 10, Target 3.
