Also called: AI Search Visibility, Generative Visibility

Common prompts: "what is AI visibility," "how to improve AI visibility," "AI visibility measurement"

Definition

AI Visibility is the umbrella term for a brand's discoverability inside AI engines — including frequency of citation, depth of context, sentiment of the framing, and the citation graph that produces the engine's answers. AI Visibility encompasses Citation Share as a metric and GEO as the discipline that moves it.

Why it matters

AI Visibility is the new operating concept for communications budgeting. It is the bucket against which clients now ask for measurement — what does our brand look like inside the answer layer, who else is being named, what publications are driving the citations, what gaps need closing. Search visibility was measured against a results page. AI Visibility is measured against a composed answer with finite sources, finite brand mentions, and a citation graph that compounds over time.

Example

A travel brand commissions an AI Visibility audit covering 50 destination prompts across the five major engines. The audit returns Citation Share by destination, source frequency by publication, sentiment by mention, and a competitor map. The brief follows directly from the audit. That is what an AI Visibility program is.
