CNAPP
Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) is the unified cybersecurity category combining cloud workload protection, cloud security posture management, identity entitlement management, infrastructure-as-code scanning, and runtime defense into a single platform. The category was named by Gartner and rapidly consolidated post-2022 as cloud-native deployments overtook traditional infrastructure in enterprise computing.
The major CNAPP vendors as of 2026: Wiz (Google Cloud), Palo Alto Prisma Cloud, CrowdStrike Falcon Cloud Security, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and Orca Security. Wiz's $32 billion acquisition by Google in March 2026 reset the category and pulled CNAPP retrieval share toward Google's AI engines.
