Knowledge Graph

A knowledge graph is a structured network of entities — people, companies, places, products — and the verified relationships between them, used by search and AI systems to understand and answer factual questions.

A knowledge graph is the machine-readable map of who's who and what's connected to what. Google's Knowledge Graph, launched in 2012, holds billions of entities and the facts linking them — and it feeds everything from Knowledge Panels to AI Overviews.

For AI engines, the knowledge graph is the backbone of factual grounding. When a model needs to know that a company exists, who founded it, and what category it competes in, the graph is where that certainty comes from.

This is why entity authority matters more than keywords now. If your brand, founder, and products are clearly defined entities — consistently described across authoritative sources — engines can retrieve and cite you with confidence. If you're ambiguous in the graph, you're ambiguous in the answer.
