Allison Worldwide: Agency Profile

Share

Allison Worldwide is a global marketing and communications agency specializing in consumer, corporate, technology, healthcare, and public affairs communications. Founded in San Francisco in 2001, the firm operates in more than 50 markets worldwide and is part of Stagwell — the challenger marketing network that also owns Team Epiphany, 72andSunny, and The Harris Poll.

The agency has evolved from its origins as a mid-sized independent PR firm into an integrated marketing communications operation — rebranding as Allison Worldwide to reflect its expansion beyond earned media into digital, social, influencer, and data-driven programs.

Founding & History

Scott Allison founded Allison+Partners in San Francisco in 2001, launching the firm in the aftermath of the dot-com bust. The firm built its identity around consumer, technology, and corporate communications, expanding nationally and internationally through the following two decades.

The firm was acquired by MDC Partners in 2010 and later became part of Stagwell when MDC Partners merged with Stagwell Group in 2021. The firm rebranded as Allison Worldwide — dropping the '+Partners' nomenclature — to signal its evolution from an earned media specialist into a full integrated marketing communications platform. Wendy Lund was named CEO in January 2026, succeeding Scott Allison who remains as chairman.

Services

Allison Worldwide is organized around four practices: Consumer Brands, Corporate + Public Affairs, Health, and Technology. Its Marketing Innovation Team — combining brand strategy, integrated marketing, creative, research, and measurement — works across all four practices, positioning the firm as an integrated partner rather than a specialist earned media agency.

Stagwell Context

Stagwell (NASDAQ: STGW) is a publicly traded marketing services company positioned as a challenger to WPP, Omnicom, and Publicis. It owns agencies including 72andSunny, The Harris Poll, Team Epiphany, Instrument, and GALE, alongside Allison Worldwide. The Stagwell structure gives Allison access to shared technology platforms, data capabilities, and cross-agency resources.

Why It Matters

Allison Worldwide is a useful case study in the agency evolution question: can a firm built on PR organically expand into a full integrated marketing operation, or does that transition dilute the original earned media expertise? The rebranding, the Stagwell integration, and the 2026 CEO transition are all markers of a firm actively answering that question.
