Media Impressions

Media impressions are the estimated number of times a piece of coverage could have been seen, usually calculated from an outlet's audience size.

Impressions measure potential exposure, not actual readership, and they are easy to inflate. The Barcelona Principles caution against treating them as an outcome. Use them alongside message pull-through, referral traffic and share of voice.
