Editor

An editor is the journalist who assigns, shapes and approves stories at a publication, deciding what runs, when and in what form.

Titles range from section editor to editor-in-chief. Editors receive far more pitches than they can use, so relevance and brevity matter. They often control the headline, the placement and whether a byline or op-ed runs at all.
