Legendary Photography by Guy le Baube Set to Dazzle Collectors at Avant Gallery
Avant Gallery, a cutting-edge contemporary art gallery located in The Shops at Hudson Yards, is planning a new art exhibit for July and August – a collection of works known as Behind the Scenes from renowned photographer, Guy Le Baube. Known for its premiere art that seems to pop off the gallery walls, Avant Gallery prides itself on an environment where art, culture and luxury collide. Le Baube’s exhibition will be no exception – offering visitors chic, minimal compositions centered on the beauty of the female figure, playfully laced with innuendo and grace.
The work of Le Baube, who for over 30 years has been shooting for exhibition, as well as Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Marie Claire, will be featured at Avant Gallery from July 12 through August 25, 2019. As a contemporary of Helmut Newton and Patrick Demarchelier, Le Baube captures his subjects in rich 35mm film, using his lens to treat his subjects with dignity, each image an almost collaborative effort, eye to eye, cheek to cheek, intertwined and working toward the climactic click of the shutter.
Avant Gallery founder, Dmitry Prut, is excited to bring Le Baube’s work to the forefront of the New York art community. “Our collection of contemporary art has undeniable personality and flair – and Guy Le Baube’s photography, which in this exhibition spans five decades of his career, is simply legendary,” said Prut.
The Gallery
Prut founded Avant Gallery in Miami Beach in 2007, committing to expanding the discourse of contemporary art by supporting bold innovation, dynamic practices and visual experimentation. Prut’s galleries – from Miami, to Dubai, to New York – support an eclectic range of emerging and mid-career artists.
With their expansion into their newest flagship location in New York at Hudson Yards, Avant Gallery has entered the New York art market – no easy feat given the heavy competition. But Prut is confident in his gallery and their ability to grow, noting that Avant Gallery’s place in the New York art community will continue to grow and evolve. With exhibitions like Behind the Scenes, it’s clear Prut is on the right track.
