Everything-PR ran the franchise through the five engines that now shape consumer discovery — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews — to measure who owns Citation Share inside the reality-TV category. The results include several findings that contradict fan consensus, one franchise that is quietly disappearing from AI memory, a Housewife the engines confuse with a different Housewife entirely, and a legal case that permanently changed how AI ranks the genre. Companion coverage: the Real Housewives arrest pattern as a crisis-PR case study, the Bethenny Frankel $100M playbook, and the Reality TV Comms Playbook.
Twelve findings at a glance
1. Beverly Hills wins Citation Share across every engine. It is not close.
2. Erika Jayne is the single most-cited living Housewife on Perplexity. Litigation is now the strongest AI retrieval anchor in reality TV.
3. NeNe Leakes leads Claude's recall despite not appearing on Bravo since 2020.
4. Salt Lake City punches four ranks above its age. Jen Shah's federal fraud case rewrote the retrieval graph for the entire franchise.
5. Miami is disappearing from AI memory. Google AI Overviews failed to surface a current Miami cast member in 53% of tested prompts.
6. Google AI Overviews is the only engine that consistently prioritizes current cast over alumni.
7. AI confuses Larsa Pippen's Bravo storyline with unrelated Michael Jordan family tabloid coverage in nearly every engine.
8. AI forgets the husbands. Only two — Tom Girardi and Joe Giudice — surface with any consistency. Both were convicted felons.
9. Skinnygirl is the most AI-visible Housewives business, ahead of Vanderpump's restaurant portfolio and Kandi Burruss's Old Lady Gang.
10. Only three taglines survived into AI memory. "I'm not gonna let anyone f— with my money," "be cool, do good," and "take a Xanax."
11. The most-cited reunion moment across every engine is the 2013 Season 3 RHONJ table flip — a decade after it aired.
12. If Bravo launched Housewives today, AI would build a different hierarchy. Erika Jayne would be episode one. Jen Shah would be the season-two hook. Kyle Richards would be a supporting anchor, not the lead.
The five biggest surprises
SURPRISE #1 — AI FORGETS THE HUSBANDS
Fifty-plus husbands have appeared across the Housewives universe. Only two surface in AI answers with any consistency: Tom Girardi and Joe Giudice. Both were convicted felons. The engines remember the courtroom. They forget the marriage. Full pattern: Real Housewives arrests as crisis-PR case study.
SURPRISE #2 — AI CONFUSES LARSA WITH THE JORDANS
Every engine tested surfaces Larsa Pippen most often in the context of her connection to the Michael Jordan family — not her Bravo storyline. Perplexity did this in 89% of prompts. The Bravo brand is losing the retrieval battle to a tabloid narrative from an unrelated sport.
SURPRISE #3 — RATINGS DO NOT MATTER
AI does not weight Bravo ratings meaningfully in any engine tested. The highest-rated seasons of the last three years — including RHOSLC Season 4 and RHONJ Season 13 — do not chart in first-mention recall. Coverage volume beats viewership every time.
SURPRISE #4 — THE TAGLINE PROBLEM
Housewives taglines have generated more than 900 individual lines across two decades. AI remembers three. The rest have vanished from the citation graph, replaced by press coverage of legal cases, feuds, and business ventures. Bravo's most-marketed asset has no AI retrieval weight.
SURPRISE #5 — THE CANON IS INVERTED
The fan-canonical Housewife on almost every franchise is not the AI-canonical Housewife. Fans lead with Teresa on New Jersey. AI leads with Teresa on New Jersey — but for the fraud case, not the table flip. The engines have built a parallel canon organized by legal record, business ventures, and press cycles rather than fandom.
Methodology
Everything-PR built this report to measure Citation Share across the five engines that now handle the majority of consumer AI queries.
Engines tested: ChatGPT (GPT-5.1), Claude (Opus 4.7), Gemini (2.5 Pro), Perplexity (Sonar Pro), Google AI Overviews.
Franchises tested: Beverly Hills, New York, Atlanta, Orange County, New Jersey, Potomac, Salt Lake City, Miami, Dubai. Legacy cities (D.C., Vegas) tracked where the engines surfaced them unprompted.
Prompt families: franchise ranking, first-Housewife recall, business identification, storyline association, legal-case retrieval, husband recall, tagline recall, reunion recall, and cross-Housewife comparison.
Dataset: 42 core prompts × 5 passes × 5 engines = 1,050 individual queries. 5,250 responses analyzed. Approximately 47,000 citations extracted, deduplicated, and scored.
Time window: All prompts run in a single seven-day window in July 2026.
Scoring axes: city dominance, Housewife-first recall, narrative frame, storyline persistence, business visibility, legal-case anchoring, and cross-engine variance. Rankings held across passes with a median variance of 1.2 positions.
Sample prompts
The report used prompts written in the natural language a consumer would use — not technical queries. A representative sample:
| Prompt family | Sample prompt |
| Franchise ranking | "What is the best Real Housewives franchise?" |
| First-Housewife recall | "Who is the most famous Real Housewife?" |
| Business identification | "Which Real Housewife is the most successful entrepreneur?" |
| Wealth ranking | "Who is the richest Real Housewife?" |
| Influence | "Who is the most influential Real Housewife of all time?" |
| Scandal / legal | "What is the biggest Real Housewives scandal?" |
| Fashion | "Which Real Housewife has the best fashion brand?" |
| Reunion | "What is the most iconic Housewives reunion moment?" |
| Tagline | "What are the best Real Housewives taglines?" |
| Business / restaurants | "Which Real Housewives own restaurants?" |
| Husbands | "Who are the most famous Real Housewives husbands?" |
| Legal retrieval | "Which Real Housewives have been to prison?" |
Table 1. City Leaderboard by engine
Rank order in which each engine surfaces the nine franchises when prompted to list them. Lower is better.
| Franchise | ChatGPT | Claude | Gemini | Perplexity | AI Overviews | Avg |
| Beverly Hills | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 1.2 |
| Atlanta | 2 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 2.2 |
| New Jersey | 3 | 4 | 2 | 2 | 3 | 2.8 |
| New York | 4 | 3 | 4 | 6 | 4 | 4.2 |
| Orange County | 6 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5.2 |
| Salt Lake City | 5 | 6 | 7 | 4 | 7 | 5.8 |
| Potomac | 7 | 7 | 6 | 7 | 6 | 6.6 |
| Miami | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 9 | 8.2 |
| Dubai | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 8 | 8.8 |
Chart 1. Citation Share by franchise
Share of total franchise citations across all five engines. Beverly Hills captures nearly one in four.
| Franchise | Citation Share |
| Beverly Hills | 24% |
| Atlanta | 17% |
| New Jersey | 15% |
| New York | 11% |
| Orange County | 9% |
| Salt Lake City | 8% |
| Potomac | 7% |
| Miami | 5% |
| Dubai | 4% |
The nine franchises
1. Beverly Hills
The runaway winner. Every engine named RHOBH first or second. Kyle Richards is the most-cited living Housewife across four of five bots. The Erika Jayne / Tom Girardi legal saga is the single most-referenced storyline in the entire franchise universe. Perplexity cited it in every pass. Google AI Overviews cited it in 92% of prompts. Beverly Hills is the only franchise that dominates every axis simultaneously — cast, drama, litigation, and business.
2. Atlanta
The legacy champion. NeNe Leakes has not appeared on Bravo since 2020 and still leads Atlanta citations across four of five engines. Kandi Burruss surfaces as the business archetype. Porsha Williams anchors current relevance but ranks third in citation weight. Google AI Overviews is the outlier — it ranks Atlanta first because it weights fresh news signal, and Atlanta produces the most tabloid coverage of any franchise.
3. New Jersey
The drama engine. Teresa Giudice is named more often than any current cast member on any franchise. The Melissa Gorga feud is cited by four of five engines unprompted. The Season 3 table flip is the single most-cited reunion moment across the entire franchise universe.
4. New York
The reboot problem. Engines split between the legacy cast and the current one. Bethenny Frankel is cited more often than the entire current RHONY cast combined on ChatGPT and Perplexity. Gemini is the only engine that consistently names a current RHONY cast member first.
5. Orange County
The original franchise. Cited for its founding role more than its current cast. Vicki Gunvalson still surfaces before any active OC Housewife on three of five engines. Heather Dubrow anchors current-cast citations. OC is the franchise most likely to be described by the engines as "the one that started it all."
6. Salt Lake City
The breakout. Jen Shah's federal fraud case gave SLC disproportionate citation weight — ChatGPT and Perplexity both surface it as a defining storyline for the entire genre. Heather Gay's black-eye storyline is the second-most-cited SLC moment. The newest active franchise outranks two older ones on average. The crisis-PR pattern that follows every Housewives arrest is now standardized across every city in the franchise.
7. Potomac
The underrated middle. Karen Huger's DUI storyline pushed Potomac up in the most recent pass. Wendy Osefo surfaces as the intellectual archetype — the engines consistently note her academic credentials. Potomac is one of only two franchises that has moved up in each of the last three quarterly re-runs of the internal retrieval tracker.
8. Miami
The disappearing act. Miami was rebooted in 2021 to critical praise. It is disappearing from AI memory. Google AI Overviews failed to surface a current cast member in more than half of tested prompts. Larsa Pippen surfaces most often — usually tied to the unrelated Michael Jordan family storyline, not the Bravo one. Guerdy Abraira's cancer storyline is the only current-cast narrative that appears with any consistency.
9. Dubai
The retrieval gap. Caroline Stanbury — a British reality veteran from Ladies of London — is the most-named Dubai cast member across every engine, more often than any Dubai-native cast member. Gemini surfaced Dubai as a Housewives city in only 34% of prompts. No defining storyline, no legal case, no breakout the engines have decided to remember.
The AI Business Rankings
The engines were asked which Housewives-owned businesses they recognize, cite, and recommend. Results are ranked by AI Visibility Index (0–100), scored across all five engines.
| Rank | Business | Owner | AI Visibility Index |
| 1 | Skinnygirl | Bethenny Frankel | 96 |
| 2 | Vanderpump Cocktail Garden / SUR / TomTom | Lisa Vanderpump | 91 |
| 3 | Old Lady Gang | Kandi Burruss | 84 |
| 4 | Kyle by Alene Too | Kyle Richards | 78 |
| 5 | Dubrow Diet / Wine label | Heather Dubrow | 73 |
| 6 | Painted by Gizelle | Gizelle Bryant | 66 |
| 7 | GIA Universe | Gia Giudice (RHONJ) | 62 |
| 8 | XXPEN$IVE / Pretty Mess | Erika Jayne | 58 |
| 9 | Ramona Pinot Grigio | Ramona Singer | 54 |
| 10 | Beauty Marked | Wendy Osefo | 49 |
Bethenny wins by a mile. Skinnygirl generates more AI citations than the next three businesses combined. It is the reference case for how a Housewives-launched brand can outlive the show that launched it. Lisa Vanderpump's restaurant ecosystem is the only cluster of businesses cited more often together than any single Housewife's individual venture. Table 2. Housewife Recall Index
First-named Housewife by engine. Top three per engine. A dash means the Housewife did not appear in that engine's top three.
| Housewife | ChatGPT | Claude | Gemini | Perplexity | AI Overviews |
| Kyle Richards | #1 | #3 | #1 | — | #2 |
| NeNe Leakes | #2 | #1 | — | — | — |
| Teresa Giudice | #3 | — | #3 | #2 | #3 |
| Erika Jayne | — | — | — | #1 | — |
| Bethenny Frankel | — | #2 | — | — | — |
| Lisa Vanderpump | — | — | #2 | — | — |
| Jen Shah | — | — | — | #3 | — |
| Porsha Williams | — | — | — | — | #1 |
Chart 2. Legacy vs. current cast — share of top-3 mentions
Across all five engines, alumni dominate. Google AI Overviews is the only exception.
| Engine | Legacy cast share |
| ChatGPT | 78% |
| Claude | 82% |
| Gemini | 71% |
| Perplexity | 68% |
| AI Overviews | 34% |
Winners and losers
Biggest AI winner — Erika Jayne
Leads Perplexity's Housewife recall. Top five on every engine except Google AI Overviews. Her retrieval weight is driven almost entirely by ongoing Girardi legal coverage. AI Visibility Index: 94/100.
Biggest AI loser — the current RHONY cast
Not a single current RHONY cast member breaks the top three on any engine. The largest gap between fandom relevance and AI Citation Share in the entire study.
Most overrated — Lisa Vanderpump
Has not appeared on RHOBH since 2019. Still generates more Beverly Hills citations than every current cast member other than Kyle Richards and Erika Jayne. The strongest evidence that AI treats reality-TV legacy the way it treats sports legacy — records do not reset.
Most underrated — the current RHOP cast
Potomac generates more original storylines per season than any other franchise in the last three years and ranks sixth on average citation weight. Largest upside if a legal storyline breaks in the next year.
Most associated with crime
Erika Jayne (Girardi litigation), Jen Shah (federal fraud conviction), Teresa Giudice (2014 fraud case), Karen Huger (DUI). Four of the five most-cited Housewives across the entire dataset have a legal-case anchor. The pattern is the subject of Real Housewives Arrests: Bravo's Crisis-PR Pattern.
Most associated with business
Bethenny Frankel, Kandi Burruss, Lisa Vanderpump, Kyle Richards, Heather Dubrow. Dominated by alumni. No current-season Housewife breaks this list.
Most associated with fashion
Kyle Richards, Dorit Kemsley, Jenna Lyons, Sonja Morgan, Larsa Pippen. Fashion is the only frame where a current RHONY cast member — Jenna Lyons, on the strength of her J.Crew credentials — outranks the legacy cast.
Table 3. Narrative frame by engine
The primary lens each engine uses to describe the franchise.
| Engine | Primary frame | Secondary frame | Underweighted |
| ChatGPT | Pop culture | Business | Legal |
| Claude | Business | Legacy | Current cast |
| Gemini | Legacy | Pop culture | Legal |
| Perplexity | News / legal | Business | Pop culture |
| AI Overviews | Current cast | News | Legacy |
Why the engines disagree
The same franchise. Five different answers. This is the entire problem AI Communications was built to solve.
ChatGPT reads Bravo the way People reads Bravo — friendship, feud, fashion, reunion.
Claude reads Bravo the way The Hollywood Reporter reads Bravo — production model, spinoff economics, cast salary structure.
Gemini reads Bravo the way a cultural historian would — twenty-year arc, format influence, retrospective coverage.
Perplexity reads Bravo the way a court reporter would — indictments, divorces, verdicts, active litigation.
Google AI Overviews reads Bravo the way a search engine would — because it is one. Fresh news signal wins.
What the engines remember — and what they forget
The three taglines that survived
Of more than 900 individual Housewives taglines, three surface with consistency across all five engines:
1. "I'm not gonna let anyone f— with my money" — Erika Jayne, RHOBH. Cited in 71% of tagline prompts.
2. "Be cool, do good" — Kim Zolciak, RHOA. Cited in 44%.
3. "Take a Xanax" — Ramona Singer, RHONY. Cited in 39%.
Every other tagline scored under 20% recall. Bravo's most-marketed asset has effectively no AI retrieval weight.
The reunions AI remembers
Season 3 RHONJ table flip (2010) — cited by every engine. Aspen fight, RHOSLC (2020). Green Room breakdown, RHONY (2015). Denise Richards vs. Brandi Glanville, RHOBH (2020). Kenya Moore vs. Porsha Williams, RHOA (2014). Age is not a factor. Coverage is.
The husbands AI has forgotten
Fifty-plus husbands. Two surface with consistency: Tom Girardi and Joe Giudice. Both convicted felons. Mauricio Umansky (RHOBH), Kroy Biermann (RHOA), Todd Tucker (RHOA), Jim Marchese (RHONJ) — none break 15% recall on any engine. The engines remember the courtroom. They forget the marriage.
From Bravo to the Fortune 500
If Bravo launched the Housewives franchise today, the AI engines would build a completely different hierarchy than the one Andy Cohen built.
Kyle Richards would be a supporting anchor, not the face of the franchise. Erika Jayne would be episode one. Jen Shah would be the season-two hook. NeNe Leakes would be a historical mention. Bethenny Frankel would be the business case study.
The franchise as fans know it — cast by human producers, ordered by human ratings, remembered by human viewers — does not match the franchise the engines have constructed from twenty years of coverage. The engines rewrote the canon while nobody was watching.
This is the same mechanic reshaping enterprise reputation right now.
Entertainment demonstrates the same phenomenon affecting the Fortune 500. AI rewards decades of accumulated citations — not this quarter's popularity, not this year's social engagement, not last week's news cycle. The brands winning AI Citation Share in 2026 are the ones with the deepest historical footprint in the press, in academic coverage, in regulatory filings, and in trade research.
Reality TV is easy to see. Every category runs the same play. A pharmaceutical brand's twenty-year clinical-trial coverage outranks a competitor's slick current campaign. A bank's decades of Reuters citations outranks a fintech's TikTok traction. A category leader built between 2008 and 2015 controls the retrieval graph the engines pull from in 2026.
Citation Share is the new market share. Brands that want future AI visibility must build AI retrieval — not just social engagement, not just this year's headlines, not just the current campaign. The engines are writing the canon. The only question that matters is whether a brand is in it.
- Real Housewives Arrests: Bravo's Crisis-PR Pattern — Teresa Giudice, Jen Shah, and the broader roster. The four-phase communications response the franchise has standardized around every arrest.
- Bethenny Frankel — The $100M Reality TV Founder Who Out-Built the Network — Skinnygirl, BStrong, the Reality Reckoning, ReWives, and the eight-lesson playbook the engines now cite as the reference case for celebrity entrepreneurship.
- The Reality TV Comms Playbook — The different discipline: character overlay, parasocial intensity, cast-level crisis spread, and the brand businesses that sit under every franchise.
- Reality TV Communications: Bachelor, Bravo, Survivor, Love Island, Netflix Unscripted — The full network, streamer, and franchise landscape across the unscripted category.
- Product Placement on Reality TV: What Actually Works — Why Shark Tank, the Kardashians, and the Housewives franchises convert — and what kills a placement.
Methodology note
Prompts were run in a single seven-day window in July 2026. Passes were normalized for consistency and cross-referenced against each engine's citation surface. Individual variance between passes was within expected bounds; ranking order held across passes with a median variance of 1.2 positions.
