Four Schools That Moved Fastest Since ChatGPT

ChatGPT launched in November 2022. Within 30 months, four business schools restructured their AI curriculum faster than any peers in the 5W AI Business School Index 2026.

Wharton — The AI Major

Wharton (#3, 90.5) launched a named AI MBA major — the only one among the M7. Speed: approximately 18 months from internal approval to first enrolled cohort.

Kellogg — The Standalone Degree

Kellogg (#5, 86.5) launched its MBAi as a standalone credential — a joint degree with McCormick Engineering. The partnership reduced development time — engineering faculty were already teaching AI.

IESE — The Curriculum Rebuild

IESE (#19, 72.0) executed the most aggressive curriculum rebuild in the European field. Case-method driven — dozens of existing cases rewritten to integrate AI decision-making. IESE now outranks Anderson/UCLA (71.5) and Tepper/CMU (71.0).

Booth — The OpenAI Partnership

Chicago Booth (#6, 85.0) became the first M7 school to formalize a research partnership with OpenAI. Conversations to agreement in less than a year.

What Speed Signals

All four share a common trait: institutional leadership that treated AI readiness as a strategic priority rather than a curriculum committee item. 42% of schools still require zero AI coursework. The gap between the fastest movers and the field is widening.
