The Operating System for Modern Marketing: Inside Zeta Global's AI Surge — Zeta Global AI

The company turning AI from a marketing buzzword into a billion-dollar revenue engine.

For two decades, enterprise marketing software promised intelligence and delivered dashboards. Zeta Global is finally closing the gap.

Zeta has spent the AI era doing what most martech players only put on slides. Building. Shipping. Beating guidance. Seventeen straight "beat and raise" quarters. A market capitalization of roughly $5.31 billion as of January 2026. A stock up nearly 29% over the prior six months. And a clear runway to $1.73 billion in revenue in 2026, with management's stated path to $2 billion-plus.

This is what disciplined AI execution looks like.

The Thesis: Data Plus AI Equals Intent

Zeta's pitch is simple in a category drowning in jargon. A software company that uses data and artificial intelligence to help very large enterprises acquire, grow, and retain customers — cost-efficiently, at scale.

The proof points speak louder than the pitch. Zeta serves roughly 40% of the Fortune 100. Forrester named Zeta the #1 leader among marketing clouds. During the 2025 holiday shopping weekend, platform usage surged 153% year-over-year, AI agent activity climbed 25x, and uptime held at 100%. Enterprises using Zeta's AI Agents — spanning Audience, Campaign, and QA — realized 87% time savings on repetitive tasks at peak volume.

Those are the metrics enterprise CMOs actually care about when their Q4 number is on the line.

Athena: The Move From Insight to Action

The product story everyone is watching is Athena by Zeta™ — a superintelligent agent built for enterprise marketing, unveiled at Zeta Live in October 2025 and powered, as of CES 2026, by OpenAI models under a strategic collaboration.

Athena isn't a chatbot bolted onto a CRM. It's a conversational, agentic operating layer that sits on top of the Zeta Marketing Platform and turns marketer questions into decision-ready answers — and, increasingly, into executed actions. The first two agentic applications, Insights and Advisor, are now in expanded beta after what Zeta described as unprecedented early demand. General availability is set for the end of Q1 2026.

"AI is moving from the edges of marketing to the center of how enterprises operate, and Athena embodies that shift. It transforms the Zeta Marketing Platform into an intelligent operating system for growth — one that can listen, reason, and act on behalf of marketers." — David A. Steinberg, Co-Founder, Chairman & CEO, Zeta Global

OpenAI's Chief Commercial Officer Giancarlo "GC" Lionetti returned the volley: "Zeta shows how advanced AI moves beyond insight and into action." Translation — OpenAI just publicly designated a marketing-cloud partner of choice. That matters.

Early adopters already have receipts. TKO Group Holdings, the parent of UFC and WWE, joined Athena's Early Access Program. Deborah Cook, TKO's VP of Data Intelligence, reported that segment-based reporting and creative optimization tasks that once required significant manual effort now happen almost instantly.

The Marigold Acquisition: 1 + 1 = 4

In November 2025, Zeta closed its acquisition of Marigold's enterprise software business — including Marigold Loyalty, Cheetah Digital, Selligent, Sailthru, Liveclicker, and Grow — for up to $325 million. The deal expands Zeta's footprint among Fortune 500 brands, deepens loyalty and personalization capabilities, and grows the subscription revenue mix.

The numbers back the move. Following the close, Zeta raised guidance across the board:

  • 2026 revenue: at least $1.73 billion — including ~$190 million from Marigold — 34% year-over-year growth (20% excluding political and Marigold contribution).
  • 2026 adjusted EBITDA: $385.4 million — up $31.4 million from prior guidance, 40% YoY growth, 22.3% margin.
  • 2026 free cash flow: $224 million — up $15 million from prior guidance, 42% YoY growth, 12.9% margin.

Beat and raise. Again.

Where The Category Is Heading — And Why Zeta Is Built For It

The structural shift underway in enterprise marketing is profound. CMOs are no longer asking whether AI can help — they're asking which platforms can deliver measurable ROI at scale, under pressure, with compliance and uptime guarantees.

Zeta Global has answered that question seventeen quarters in a row. With Athena, the Marigold integration, and the OpenAI partnership, the company is positioning itself not as a marketing cloud, but as the operating system for modern marketing — one that listens, reasons, and acts.

That's the difference between a dashboard and a decision engine. And it's why the market is paying attention.
