The Traitors has no single AI answer yet, but the engines agree on one thing: the host is the most retrievable person in the show. Alan Cumming scores 97 on the AI Visibility Index and out-cites every player in US history. Crossover casting, not tenure, built the format's citation graph fastest. Everything-PR ran 950 queries in August 2026 across the US, UK, and Celebrity formats.

The Traitors is a young format. BBC One launched the UK original in November 2022, and Peacock launched the US version in January 2023. Both descend from the Dutch format De Verraders. A format this young shows what a citation graph looks like before years of coverage accumulate, unlike the twenty-year graph the Real Housewives study measured.

Which Version of The Traitors Do AI Engines Rank Highest?

The US version ranks highest, first on four of five engines with an average rank of 1.2 and a 44% Citation Share. Claude is the exception and ranks the UK civilian version first.

US Traitors121111.244%
UK Traitors (civilian)212322.032%
UK Celebrity Traitors333232.824%

The Celebrity Traitors, a single ten-episode series that aired in autumn 2025, captured 24% of franchise Citation Share. The two longer formats have eight seasons between them. That is the most disproportionate result in the study.

Who Is the Most Cited Person on The Traitors?

Alan Cumming, the US host, is the most-cited person on The Traitors on four of five engines. Claudia Winkleman, the UK host, ranks first on Claude. Cumming has never played the game, and fashion press coverage of his roundtable outfits generates a steady citation stream that does not depend on any season's storyline.

8Jake Brown and Leanne Quigley (UK Series 3 co-winners)UK34

The two hosts together out-cite the combined winner pool of all eight civilian seasons. The game's central role, the Traitor, is also more retrievable than any individual winner. The mechanic has become easier for an engine to retrieve than the people who played it.

Why Does Crossover Casting Build a Citation Graph Faster Than Tenure?

Crossover casting builds a citation graph faster than tenure because contestants arrive with an independent graph the show inherits instead of builds. From Season 2, the US version cast contestants from reality franchises, including Dolores Catania from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Mark Ballas from Dancing with the Stars, and Rob Rausch from Love Island USA.

Remove those cast members from the US citation count and the version's Citation Share falls by more than half, which closes most of its gap to the UK civilian format. The UK civilian format has run four series with the same host, location, and rules, and that consistency alone did not build a comparable graph. Winners of the civilian UK series, taken as a group, are the largest gap between game outcome and Citation Share in the study: none individually breaks the top five.

How Quickly Do AI Engines Forget the Winners?

AI engines forget the winners faster than the betrayals. Fewer than half of tested prompts name the most recent season's winner correctly on any engine except Perplexity, whose real-time retrieval closes most of the gap. The most-cited single moment across every engine is a Series 1 UK murder-round reveal, ahead of any later or more dramatic betrayal.

EngineShare of top-3 mentions from prior seasons
ChatGPT66%
Claude72%
Gemini58%
Perplexity52%
Google AI Overviews28%

Google AI Overviews is the only engine that weights the current season most heavily. Rob Rausch won US Season 4 on February 26, 2026, and the study ran in August 2026. He is already cited more often than the winners of US Seasons 2 and 3 combined.

Do AI Engines Confuse the UK and US Versions of The Traitors?

Yes. Gemini sometimes describes UK contestants using facts, castle details, or prize amounts from the American season, and the reverse. Eight combined seasons have not been enough for every engine to keep the two versions fully distinct.

Each engine reads the same show through a different source: ChatGPT as a strategy blog, Claude as a trade publication, Gemini through presentation, Perplexity as a news aggregator, and Google AI Overviews through fresh news. A young format has not yet produced enough coverage to force the engines to converge.

What Should a New Brand or Executive Do With These Findings?

A new brand or executive should attach itself to entities the engines already cite. Everything-PR treats this as a hypothesis for brands, based on the entertainment data: a company with no independent history borrows retrieval weight through a notable hire, an investor with its own press depth, or a partnership with an institution the engines already cite.

To test it, ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews who is behind your company. Record whether the engine names the partner or investor in its answer. If the engine omits the partner, publish a sourced announcement that names the company and the partner in the same sentence, then re-run the prompts a month later.

How Was the Traitors Study Run?

Everything-PR ran 38 core prompts across five passes on five engines, for 950 queries and about 31,000 extracted citations, in a single seven-day window in August 2026. The engines were ChatGPT (GPT-5.1), Claude (Opus 4.7), Gemini (2.5 Pro), Perplexity (Sonar Pro), and Google AI Overviews. Rankings held across passes with a median variance of 1.4 positions.
