Salesforce Agentforce is the autonomous AI agent platform Salesforce launched at Dreamforce in September 2024. Agentforce annual recurring revenue exceeded $1.5 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2027, up more than 240% year over year, according to Salesforce's August 26, 2026 earnings release. The platform launched with per-conversation pricing instead of per-seat pricing, which breaks the template Salesforce itself pioneered in 1999.
The stakes for B2B marketers are practical: Agentforce is the clearest recent case of a category leader renaming its own category, then publishing revenue numbers every quarter to prove the new name. Originally published October 2024. Updated October 2026.
How big is Agentforce revenue in 2026?
Agentforce ARR grew from $800 million at the end of fiscal 2026 to more than $1.5 billion by the end of the second quarter of fiscal 2027. The figures below come from Salesforce's proxy statement and quarterly earnings releases.

One definition changed in the latest quarter. Starting in Q2 fiscal 2027, Salesforce counts its AI offerings, Slackbot and Headless 360 inside the Agentforce ARR figure, so the Q2 number is not like for like with earlier quarters.
Combined Agentforce and Data 360 ARR reached nearly $3.9 billion in Q2, up more than 210%. Customers have received 7.0 billion Agentic Work Units across Agentforce and Slack, including 3.2 billion in Q2 alone, and Salesforce raised its fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to $46.1 billion to $46.4 billion.
Why does Agentforce matter for B2B SaaS marketing?
Agentforce matters because Salesforce ran one of the most studied SaaS marketing operations of the last two decades and is now using the same playbook to rename its category. The 1999 launch positioned Salesforce against on-premise CRM as the end of software, and Dreamforce became its annual stage for category declarations.
The September 2024 Agentforce launch followed that pattern. Benioff's Dreamforce keynote framed autonomous agents as a new labor category, not a feature of CRM, and the company has reported agent revenue and usage every quarter since.
What does Agentforce do differently from copilots?
Agentforce runs autonomous agents that execute customer service, sales and marketing workflows, where a copilot suggests actions for a person to take. Salesforce names the Atlas Reasoning Engine as the technology layer behind the agents.
Pricing is the second difference. Agentforce launched with a per-conversation charge instead of a per-seat license, so a high-volume support team pays for work done, not for headcount. For SaaS marketers, that shifts the pitch from seats to outcomes.
What does Slack add to Agentforce?
Slack gives Agentforce a conversational home inside the tools employees already use. Salesforce acquired Slack for $27.7 billion in 2021, and its Agentic Work Unit count now covers work delivered across Agentforce and Slack together.
That pairing is the architectural claim Salesforce makes against rivals: it owns both the agent engine and the human-facing conversation surface. Microsoft Teams, ServiceNow and Oracle each cover one side of that pairing more strongly than the other.
How does Agentforce compete with Microsoft, ServiceNow, Oracle and HubSpot?
Each rival attacks from a different base. Microsoft Copilot has Office 365 distribution, ServiceNow has the IT operations install base, Oracle has enterprise database relationships, and HubSpot has the mid-market. Agentforce has to defend all four fronts at once, which is why Salesforce keeps publishing usage and revenue proof points.
In June 2026 Salesforce also announced agreements to acquire Contentful and Fin, and said in its August release that both deals should close in the third quarter of fiscal 2027.
What can SaaS marketers copy from the Agentforce launch?
SaaS marketers can copy three moves, and each one needs your own numbers to work. Name the category before a competitor does, as the category creation case studies show for Drift, Gong, Datadog and Snowflake. Put one executive voice at the center of the story. Publish a metric every quarter that proves the category is real.
The wider channel picture, including where organic search and AI citation fit, is in the SaaS digital marketing guide.
Salesforce Agentforce is the autonomous AI agent platform launched at Dreamforce in September 2024. It executes customer service, sales and marketing workflows independently. Agentforce ARR exceeded $1.5 billion in Q2 fiscal 2027, up more than 240% year over year.
How does Agentforce pricing differ from per-seat SaaS pricing?
Agentforce launched with a charge per conversation instead of a charge per seat. For high-volume customer service operations, that moves cost from headcount to completed work.
What is Slack's role in Agentforce?
Slack functions as a conversational interface for Agentforce agents. Salesforce reports Agentic Work Units across Agentforce and Slack together, 7.0 billion to date as of Q2 fiscal 2027.
What did Salesforce guide for fiscal 2027?
Salesforce raised its fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to $46.1 billion to $46.4 billion in its August 26, 2026 earnings release, which implies growth of 11% to 12%.
