What does the shift from ChatGPT to Gemini mean for a PR team?

A PR team should check which of its own pages each engine sends visitors to before deciding where to invest, because the engines favored different pages on this site. Gemini's top pages were case studies and ranked lists, while ChatGPT's top page was a firm ranking and Claude's was a citation index.

The comparison also shows referral share can move within one quarter: Gemini nearly tripled while ChatGPT fell by a third. For how each engine is used inside a communications team, see the guides for Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Copilot. The Gemini citation source index lists the domains Gemini cites most.

How is this tracker measured and updated?

This tracker counts GA4 sessions whose source is an AI assistant's own domain: gemini.google.com, chatgpt.com, claude.ai, perplexity.ai and copilot.microsoft.com. Each figure covers the 90 days ending October 17, 2026, compared with the 90 days before.

The counts are visitors who clicked a link inside an AI answer, not mentions or citations without a click. Engines that send traffic without a recognizable source domain are not counted. Everything-PR plans to update the tracker each quarter, with the next update due in January 2027.
