Google Bard vs ChatGPT : Here are the main differences
OpenAI’s ChatGPT, launched in November 2022, took the internet by storm, and recently, Google entered the market with its own AI-powered chatbot, Bard. While both tools share similar functions, there are key differences between them that set them apart. However, it’s important to remember that the future of AI in marketing extends far beyond content generation. Its applications span various areas such as customer service, email optimization, product recommendations, and social media posts. As the field continues to evolve rapidly, the role of AI in marketing is expected to adapt and expand. That way, the tools can provide new and innovative ways for brands to engage with audiences.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT, short for Generative Pre-trained Transformer, is an AI-powered chatbot from OpenAI. It utilizes machine learning and the GPT-3.5 language model, which is trained on text from all over the internet, created by people. ChatGPT quickly gained popularity, amassing 1 million users within five days of its release. It can generate responses in a conversational manner, making it suitable for numerous applications. That includes coding, product descriptions, blog posts, email drafts, summaries, translations, and even jokes or social media posts. However, concerns were raised about potential misuses, such as students using ChatGPT to produce convincing essays for academic purposes. In response, OpenAI introduced an AI text classifier in January 2023 to address these concerns.
Google Bard
Bard is Google’s chatbot, powered by AI and natural language processing. Originally, LaMDA was used for dialogue applications but that was upgraded to PaLM 2, Google’s next-gen language model. PaLM 2 excels in reasoning, logic, and math, providing thorough and concise answers to user’s questions. Bard offers concise answers and links for more information. It assists with tasks like booking vacations, finding reservations, and meal planning. Bard uses natural language for questions and is available in three languages across 180 countries.
Google Bard vs. ChatGPT
ChatGPT and Bard differ in their data sources. Bard uses the internet to obtain the latest data, while ChatGPT’s training data is limited to 2021. Bard uses Google’s PaLM 2 model, while ChatGPT utilizes GPT-3.5, with GPT-4 available with the paid version. It is challenging to assess the superiority of either chatbot as they are currently in the initial phases of learning. ChatGPT specializes in summarizing and writing text, while Bard excels in providing comprehensive and relevant answers. Both chatbots continuously evolve and improve based on user feedback. Some prefer Bard as a ChatGPT alternative, but Google Bard errors have occurred in responses. Their capabilities may change over time.
Other AI generators
Beyond ChatGPT and Bard, there are other AI content generators available. There are also numerous startups that are working on their own projects in this space. Some examples include ChatSonic, Jasper, Open Assistant, and Wordtune. Additionally, China’s search engine Baidu has developed an AI application called Ernie Bot.
