Wisconsin Schools Publicity RFP
The East Central WI Regional Planning Commission (ECWRPC) has issued a public relations RFP to develop marketing materials to enhance the Regional Safe Routes to School Program.
The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program focuses on teaching children bike and pedestrian safety along with healthy lifestyles. It promotes children (Kindergarten through 8th grade) to walk and bike to school and also looks to improve the air quality at and around schools, reduce the traffic congestion at and around school, increase community involvement and have intergovernmental cooperation through a number of departments including planning, the police department, the school district, local units of government, parents and community members.
The Regional Safe Routes to School Program was started in October 2009 with the through of East Central WI Regional Planning Commission (ECWRPC) as a resource for local communities and schools to start up their local SRTS program within East Central’s ten county region.
The purpose of the Regional Safe Routes to School Program is to assist local SRTS coalitions in the development of their local SRTS action plan and provide them resources and materials to implement various SRTS programs.
These programs can include:
- Events such as International Walk to School Day (October), Winter Walk to School Month (February), Bike Safety Month (May)
- Walking School Bus Programs
- Frequent Walker Programs
- Youth engagement programs
- Curriculum based work (i.e. physical education programs or literacy programs)
- Teaching Bicycle Safety Workshops
