Dorchester County Government Issues Digital Tourism Marketing RFP

Dorchester County is seeking the services of a Public Relations firm with tourism marketing and promotions experience. Respondents should have a proven track record for strategic and long-term planning, providing a variety of promotional, publicity and advertising plans, strategic marketing and national/regional media placements. The purpose of this solicitation is to procure a marketing and public relations firm to provide a digital tourism marketing program for Dorchester County.

Background:

The Service Provider chosen will work closely with the Chief Dorchester County Public Information Officer and her designees to develop and implement a digital tourism marketing program for Dorchester County that will include a multi-media marketing plan, earned media and a variety of promotional, publicity and digital advertising plans to promote tourism.

Dorchester County, South Carolina is a rapidly-growing entity with an approximate population of 156,456, according to the US Census estimate as of July 01, 2017. The County has a total of approximately 950 employees; regular full- time, regular part-time, and seasonal employees housed throughout the County.

Established in 1897, Dorchester County was formed from land previously located in Colleton County. The name “Dorchester” was indirectly derived from Dorchester, England by way of Dorchester, Massachusetts.

Dorchester County boasts award winning school districts and one of the longest free flowing black water rivers in North America. Dorchester County’s natural beauty and unwavering sense of community is what makes it the best county in South Carolina to build a business and raise a family.

Dorchester County operates under a Council-Administrator form of government. A seven-member County Council is elected by district and provides policy direction to the County.

Scope of Work:

The objective of this RFP is to procure a marking and public relations firm to provide a digital tourism marketing program for Dorchester County. A more detailed list of services includes the following:

  1. Create a long-term digital marketing strategy for the County.
  2. Develop, create and provide full video advertisements, digital display advertisements, publicity materials, and other informational material consistent with specifications provided by the County.
  3. Provide advice and recommendations for marketing strategies, branding and awareness.
  4. Provide an annual comprehensive and detailed budget and digital marketing plan.
