Kansas City Streetcar Authority Needs A PR Firm For Their Opening… For $10,000
The Kansas City Streetcar Authority (KCSA) is seeking a PR agency to manage event planning and media relations for the grand opening activities of the KC Streetcar. The grand opening of Kansas City’s first streetcar is a long awaited celebration of downtown transit and economic development. Construction is expected to finish in late October 2015, and start carrying passengers by early 2016.
Despite the fact that the cost of the streetcar is expected to exceed $102 Million – all-in PR and event planning budget is only $10,000. That’s a low fee – especially given some of the negative attention already being given to KCSA.
The RFP describes the event as “..a community celebration recognizing the businesses and organizations along the 2.2-mile route, taking special note of the distinct neighborhoods connected by the streetcar.
Special care should be taken to highlight and celebrate these communities: River Market; Central Business District; Power & Light District; Crossroads; Crown Center/Union Station. Local elected officials, business leaders, transit advocates, community leaders, city staff, FTA staff members, residents and taxpayers will all be participants/attendees of the grand opening event.”
Once open, all passengers will ride for free. Those interested are encouraged to contact Ebony Jackson at ejackson@kcstreetcar.org or 816.859.7021.
